Tim first took to the stage at school, but following a performance that went completely wrong, he decided it wasn’t for him and his inner actor remained dormant until he moved to France. He joined Les Troubadours Brittaniques de Limoux for their production of Treasure Island, which coincided with Marjorie and I joining, having moved from England the year before. He played the role of a James Bond/Robinson Crusoe hybrid, as well as part of the general cast where he paired up with Marjorie and, in the best traditions of coarse acting, developed a double act in the background. His favourite role of that period was in Robin of Sherwood where he played the Sheriff of Nottingham and discovered he liked being a “baddie”.
 
When Audrama started in 2022, Tim was very active in the set-up and during that time was generous with his time and also insisted on purchasing some lighting equipment for us as a gift. I was lucky enough to direct him in a couple of productions and I could always rely on him to learn his script. He was neither a method nor natural actor in style but a hybrid. He always wanted to be the best he could and in his last role on stage for us, as Harold Gorringe the antique and art collector, he went from taking a character he wasn’t sure about and making him real. In our last production, Subject to Contract,  he took his first steps into the world of directing. Unfortunately, due to his ongoing cancer, which was beginning to worsen, he wasn’t able to be as fully involved as he wished, but once on stage,  it was very much as he wanted.
Apart from his in-theatre work with us, he ran our inaugural car treasure hunt, which raised funds for our following production.
 
Tim will be greatly missed for his enthusiasm and drive. And our rehearsals will be a little quieter, as we hit a sudden line that he found amusing,  which would be signalled by him slamming the table as he laughed causing everyone to jump out of their skin.
